Because there are developers working on Dark and Darker with experience at Nexon that could've been privy to P3, Nexon noticed "major gameplay, rules, and art" similarities between the two titles after an investigation. Nexon is the developer behind titles like Maple Story and Godzilla Defense Force, but it currently has a game in the works dubbed P3 that shares a suspicious number of similarities with Dark and Darker. Nexon and Ironmace have been in a legal back-and-forth since March which has caused the Dark and Darker Steam woes for the latter, but its solution may be viable for some potential fans and a workaround to get the diehards back into the dungeon crawling right away. Although, Ironmace's official statement regarding the matter was that the search was a "quick process" and "nothing was found.With Dark and Darker having already been delisted from Steam due to some controversy, developer Ironmace has asked fans to torrent the game to continue supporting it. Thanks!"Įarlier this month, Ironmace had its offices searched by Korean officials on speculation that it might be in posession of stolen code and assets as nearly half of Ironmace's 20-person team is made up of former Nexon employees. An official statement was posted on the Dark and Darker Discord (by way of Reddit) stating, "To all our fans, we have recently been served a cease and desist letter and DMCA takedown by Nexon regarding Dark and Darker based on distorted claims."
